“She had nothing on when I first caught sight of her. For a full rod I chased after her. Out of breath she had to stop. But before she would consent to her picture being taken she snatched from the ground – where her mother had flung the wet clothes to dry – a little square cloth. Even then she didn’t like the idea. But I – I had no shame.”
